Mechanisms and risk factor of chronic lung disease in HIV-infected adolescents in Kenya

The aims of this study are to compare the prevalence and pathophysiologic types of chronic lung dis-ease among HIV+ and HIV- adolescents; determine the association between HIV infection and lung function over two-year follow-up; and examine biomarkers of inflammation in HIV-associated chronic lung disease. Primary collaborators are Coptic Hospital and University of Nairobi. Funding is provided by NIH.
