Sonali Kochhar MD has over 23 years of leadership experience for global vaccines and drugs development, Phase I-IV clinical research, safety, epidemiology and implementation research; Infectious diseases (e.g. COVID-19, HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, influenza, GBS, RSV); maternal immunization; pandemics preparedness and response; new vaccines introduction; increasing immunization coverage and acceptance; and immunization programs strengthening. Her work has informed global vaccine policy recommendations.
Dr Kochhar has led multiple vaccines development and research programs in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, The Gambia, South Africa, the United States, Belgium, Germany, India, Bangladesh and Nepal, and has co-authored internationally accepted guidance, protocol templates and AEFI case definitions.
She serves on advisory panels including the WHO SAGE; WHO SAGE Working Group (WG) on COVID-19 vaccines; WHO GACVS WG on COVID-19 Vaccines Safety Preparedness; Co-Chair of the WHO ACT-Accelerator Ethics & Governance WG; Wellcome Trust’s Independent Review Panel for Clinical Study Data Requests, as Guest Faculty for International Vaccinology Programs, and has published over 120 publications.
