Understanding the Role of the GBS virulence factors and infections that occur in pregnancy

The purpose of this project is to understand Group B Streptococcal virulence factors and how they affect or promote virulence and affect host immune responses during pregnancy for the development of therapeutic strategies to prevent GBS infection associated stillbirths, preterm births and early onset neonatal sepsis. Collaborators include investigators at Seattle Children's and UW.
