3D human-based microvessel bed for the study of Plasmodium falciparum interacting with vessel wall

This is a collaborative project with Dr. Ying Zheng (UW) which uses novel 3D microvascular endothelial cell platforms to model endothelial cell interactions with P. falciparum-infected erythrocytes (IEs). This grant seeks to explore how cytoadhesion of IEs alters endothelial cell activation and barrier properties, and the endothelial cells signaling properties which facilitate these changes.
