Global Health Resource Center (GHRC)

To Coordinate, Connect, and Catalyze

The Global Health Resource Center (GHRC) is the University’s hub for global health-related activities. We partner with the communications team within the Department of Global Health (DGH) to ensure that our community is up to date on our events, programs, and resources.

  • The GHRC manages the Department of Global Health funding and fieldwork opportunities, provides career advice and information referral, and develops tools to disseminate information about global health activities both here and abroad.
  • We coordinate various events, including the Global Health Faculty Research Seminar, Stephen Stewart Gloyd Endowed Lecture, public lectures, film screenings, and the annual Western Regional International Health Conference.
  • In addition, we manage several Department of Global Health fellowships that provide financial assistance to graduate students, professional students, or medical residents at the University of Washington in order to gain valuable international fieldwork experience in global health.
  • The GHRC also works with local global health organizations to plan and promote events and opportunities for networking within the community.

The Global Health Resource Center was established in 2003 to administer the Puget Sound Partners for Global Health, Training and Education Program and to develop a central resource for global health information and advising at the University of Washington. In January 2007, the GHRC was integrated into the Department of Global Health to manage logistics and operations for our study abroad and exchange programs, coordinate DGH events, provide career advising and information referral and to develop tools to disseminate information about global health activities both here and abroad. The GHRC Advisory Board serves as a networking and UW Community resource for the GHRC and meets monthly to share information and feedback about our activities and programs.
